Okay so like many of you I’m a Beyoncè fan, however, I’m just a bit “BEYONCÈ’D OUT“. So when I heard about Cadillac Records being released I didn’t rush to go see it. I heard the movie didn’t do that well and I think that was the only reason why. The movie boasts such a great cast of reputable actors from Gabrielle Union to Adrien Brody, and surprisingly Cedric The Entertainer and Mos Def were in here…i think if less focus was placed on Beyoncè more people would have given this movie a chance….but what can you expect when she executive produced it, on another note…Cadillac definitely has some great product placement in this movie, lol.
With that mini rant out of the way, this movie was incredible for me, Cadillac Records was based of true events and I’m very glad I took the time to do this movie review. The acting was fantastic, the story line drew you in, and the plot was tragic. It was hard to see such talented people like Muddy Waters, Lil’ Walter, Chuck Berry and Etta James be victims of their vices. They were some of the first bricks that paved the way for rock and roll, integrated music and classic style…yet drugs, greed, and stupidity were the jackhammers of their souls and craft.
Mos Def, Cedric, Adrien Brody, etc turned out and excellent performance…and even Beyonce did well despite the fact that she had a southern accent, she probably would have done better had she actually met with Etta James and discussed the role. Either way Cadillac Records is a MUST SEE! If not to watch how history has a way of repeating itself, then because it’s an excellent movie.
